A special thanks to Ms. Irvine for coming in to talk to you about her experience working on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Looks like a great experience ... with both positives and negatives!
I've marked your cruise cross-sections. Please review the comments on your (purple) rubric.
You will present your cruises on Thursday. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I will hand out the evaluation scheme for your presentations.
**Please note. The 'poster' on the cruise rubric is referring to your big Caribbean map! All required cruise elements should be glued down on that!

Today we discussed the perils of foreign ownership in developing regions like the Caribbean. There was a reading from the text and questions. What I want you to consider is HOW tourists can ensure that money can stay in local (developing) countries. What actions can we take as tourists to be more socially responsible when travelling?
We also discussed the Stages of Tourism Development. You are to do a case study of Tobago from the text. On (back of) the yellow sheet, choose which stage of tourism development you think Tobago is CURRENTLY in. Justify your choice by providing EVIDENCE from the case study reading.

Day Sixty-Six
Happy Monday!
Click here for the ppt to the review and today's new text questions.
Amistad is the film I mentioned in class. It provides a compelling portrayal of conditions on board slave ships in the 1800's, but does focus mainly on the true story court case that followed the slave mutiny. You don't have to watch it for this class ... I just wanted to mention it.
